I recently came across this article on the Conservative C.C. website. Just a little food for thought.
Poor, Black, and Fat

No balloons were dropped to welcome the Fat people at the Republican National Convention. The Democrats, too, ignored Fat voters because the adipose constituency is not yet the wild card of national politics. There are no "hot button" issues to sway the fat electorate; unless the button is on a microwave oven. Both parties should pay more attention to the massive masses, because Fat people are literally big news statistically.
Dieting is a multi-billion dollar industry that employs thousands of people. Without millions of Fat-Americans to spend money on fad diets, exercise gimmicks, and weight-loss pills, the economy might sink under the weight of unemployment and debt. Also, there are all the companies that manufacture quality electric buggies to haul the plus-size crowd up and down the pastry aisle at the grocery store. But there is a dark corner in Fat City.
According to government health officials, obesity is now classified as a disease which afflicts about 30% of the population. If you believe government health officials (and there is an oxymoron in there somewhere) poverty is a leading cause of obesity.
Where else but America do rich debutantes starve themselves to death while the poor get too fat.
Consider some of the facts about fat poverty. Jefferson County, Mississippi, is home to the highest percentage of morbidly obese citizens in the nation. Coincidentally, people in this same area spend more time watching television than any one else. And a majority of these tele-chubbies are black and, according to the government, unemployed and impoverished. Put simply, Mississippi is toting a load of fat blacks on welfare.
Though disgust is a natural reaction when some blubbery welfare queen buys her pork chops and cream pies with food stamps, remember that the government is subsidizing this gluttony.
Food stamps are supposed to provide a healthy diet to otherwise undernourished families. Obviously, the program gives away too much sugar for a dime. The welfare class are getting fatter and fatter and are further staggering the underpaid taxpayer with all the health problems caused by their obesity. Preventable cases of diabetes, asthma, arthritis, hypertension, and heart disease are straining the health care system and the Medicare budget. Everybody has the right to be fat, but not off the plate of the pinched taxpayer.
No food stamps for fatsoes! All food stamp recipients should be required to weigh-in each month before receiving a government meal ticket. Anyone who is ten pounds over their ideal weight goes home hungry. To further cut lard out of the system, limit the value of food stamps to a total calorie allowance. Each food stamp recipient should be restricted to a 50,000 calorie credit per month. The bar code on every food item ought to include total calories per unit. When the calories run out, no more credit. Of course this would mean fewer cream pies for madam jumbo.
The food stamp program, along with all other welfare benefits, are long overdue to be phased out anyway. Honest work never went hungry, and as Aesop said, lean freedom is preferable to fat slobberyââ¬Â¦ or something like that. Or take the bleeding-heart approach: something MUST be done to save the poor blacks in Mississippi before poverty kills them!
Obesity is guilty by association with a lavish welfare system, which is now luring illegal aliens to belly up to the table. Fattened latinos, who are already squeezing through the doors of public health facilities to get free treatment for tuberculosis and other medieval diseases, will eventually be as incapacitated by gelatinous physiques as their black codependents.
Perhaps the fable of Hansel and Grettel provides food for thought to hapless taxpayers angered by the steady stream of brown and black jelly-bellies waddling up to the social services gingerbread house
