Now we know the truth. Neither the Bush administration nor the Israeli government has any intention whatsoever of allowing the Palestinians to establish their own state.
That means, of course, that both have been lying, not only to the Palestinians but to the American people. It also means that there will be no end to the conflict in the Middle East no matter what we do. A peaceful, stable Middle East is an utter impossibility without justice for the Palestinians.

If you ever hope for Americans to once more live reasonably secure and to be able to travel with reasonable safety, then you darn well better get interested in solving the Palestinian problem. No Palestinian state, no peace for America. That's a fact whether Osama lives or dies, and no matter who is president. It is time for Americans to recognize that Israel's interests are in direct conflict with America's interests.

It is pathetic that it will take more dead Americans to learn that this problem is the primary driving force for the mess in that region. One day the people who have this inordinate fixation with putting Israel first will have to decide whether they wish to continue that insanity or start putting this country's interest first.

What scares me is that I suspect they've already made that decision!
What they fail to realize is that no amount of bailing would have saved the Titanic, and no amout of American support is going to save Israel. Israel is doomed to fail on several fronts, not the least of which is simple demographics. The end result will be the loss of Israel (inevitable) AND the loss of the United States.

I bet there are a few Israelis that wish their founders had accepted Uganda instead the snakepit they inhabit today. That's what happens when you are lead by zealots. I'm afraid you're right. Pat Robertson is making noises about forming a third party if Bush waffles over Jerusalem and the West bank. I couldn't give a damn less who runs things in that city. I haven't lost anything there.

I've read the IDF is buying huge tracts of land in Patagonia for a bail out position. That kinda ruined Argentina for me as a retirement destination.

Interesting you should mention Argentina. It is my understanding that around the beginning of the 20th century that the Zionists wanted that as a homeland.
