After I watched more disturbing hostage-taking situations in Iraq and the families pleading for their release, I decided to tell my family what they should say if, for some reason, I should happen go to Iraq and get kidnapped. First off, do not do what the others have done and give interviews pleading for my release because I'm a good man and my family loves me, etc. Instead, give interviews to Al Jezeera, Al Arabiya, [Arab network] ABC, et al., laughing about how ironic this is, that Jack was writing emails about how he secretly admired the brave insurgents and that his recent secret conversion to Islam was a result of his admiration for the holy warriors in Iraq, especially Abu Zarqawi, "whom Jack would frequently refer to in emails as the new Saladin of the Middle East."

Many will do and say anything to save their lives - understandable.
And relatives will do the same. They will say anything in the hope of saviour.
But when you are dealing with sub-humans you will know your time on earth is ended.
The Italian captive, murdered earlier this year, knew this and told those goat-like bastards: 'I will show you how an Italian dies'.
I am of similar mind. Do not get caught by goats and sheep. Die fighting and kill them as you die. For it is the fight and struggle that defines your existence.
Better pointed bullets than pointless words.

It's best to make these arrangments before you're taken hostage by Muslim terrorists.
Staying ahead of the curve and all that.
Well done.

Are you expecting yourself in Iraq anytime soon?? Don't go if you don't have to. Don't join the military if you don't have to. Don't be where you shouldn't be. Take care.

No one who isn't an Iraqi should be in Iraq now. The only possible exception are reporters. And, reporters have more to fear from Americans than from Iraqi freedom fighters or hostage takers.

Mentzer..
Good outlook on the issue.
The sad thing is that as serious as is the mess Iraq and Afghanistan, where good American kids, Mom's, and middle aged old farts are bleeding, sweating, and dying for Pax Judaica, Boobus Americanus is distracting themselves watching ghetto trash chase the football while getting paid millions.
Meanwhile, the carnage in the Middle East only gets worse. The cannon fodder gets the crumbs, the rapists, murderering drug fiends get the $$$.

But, having said that, if this quagmire gets worse, it it's a full-scale guerrilla war, I will feel guilty not going and fighting there.

Jack you'll get drafted much sooner before you'll have time to feel guilty, especially if the guerilla war escalates. If you don't support the war why would you feel guilty about not joining the fight? Check my signature below....

Good thinking but hope that they don't want you to prove your loyalty by fighting in their forces and then you are captured by the Americans and get labeled a traitor. You don't have Patty Hearst's connections to get out of your mess and you would end up like Tim McVeigh.

My original post was as much about the uselessness of the pathetic pleadings of family members as it was my strategy. But I ask you, would it be better to go ahead and prove your loyalty by playing jihad fighter (waiting for the first chance to bolt) and if caught w/o the opportunity to surrender be labled a traitor, spend years in Gitmo, then off to some solitary imprisonment for 20 years if convicted, or would it be preferable to be decapitated in such an ignominious fashion, have it videotaped for all the nerdy creeps to watch over the net and share with others, and you are remembered only by how you died-- an ultimate image of weakness?

There is something especially heroic about a soldier who dies in a war he doesn't believe in, about which the citizens have become apathetic, and no parade is planned for the returning soldier or his casket. Right now there are too many gung-ho young men wanting to go over there, so I really don't feel much guilt right now for not going.

Another thing that you could claim which I hinted at in my last answer is the Patti Hearst defense. If you are captured, you could say that these fanatics imprisoned, tortured, and brainwashed you into fighting for them and making pro-Islam and anti-American statements. As I said, you don't have the Hearst fortune to pay for your defense but it is worth a try.
I do agree with you that begging for your life is cowardly.
