Colic described Darwin's theory as dogmatic

Serbia's education minister has ordered schools to stop teaching the theory of evolution for the current school year, a leading newspaper has reported.

The paper, Glas Javnosti, quoted Ljiljana Colic as saying that in future Charles Darwin's theory would only be taught alongside creationism.

Ms Colic said the two theories were equally dogmatic.

Correspondents say the move shocked educators in a republic where religion only recently began to be taught.

Ms Colic said current material on evolution would remain in textbooks but would not be taught.

It was not clear how the ban would be enforced in schools.

Biologist Nikola Tucic described the ruling as "outrageous", and showed Serbia's Orthodox Church was interfering in politics.

"We are slowly turning into a theocratic state and in the 21st Century we are going back to the Book of Revelations," he told the newspaper.

"There were attempts like this in several US states, but they were rejected. It turns out that our fundamentalists are much more successful."

Creationism is the belief that the Old Testament account of God's creation of the world is true.

Darwin's theory of evolution is the dominant explanation of man's origins within the scientific community."

Of course, this is how WE would define it, but this writer is still strawmanning the issue - there are many, many educated and uneducated people who don't agree with the Genesis story, but also find it impossible to swallow the concept of an entirely spontaneous evolution of all life.

And this writer doesn't want his readers to know about the existence of such "moderate" creationists.

It appears that the anti-Christian, atheist (jewish?), Serbian "scientists" are just as shrill, over-the-top and thick-headedly wrong over there as they are here in the States.

Thanks for the post, Petr.

Nikola Tucic is not a Jewish name - not even the kind of name that a Jew would change his name into.

No need to blame Jews for all the stupidity and filth in this world. There's plenty of it for us Gentiles to share too.

I don't blame jews for all the stupidity and filth in this world, but let's face it, anti-Christian "scientific" atheism is pretty much a distinctively jewish born and fed world view.

Plus, mentioning that drives the atheist, racialist nazis crazy.

Why does Biologist Tucic think the Orthodox Church (i.e., anyone who believes the biblical account) should have no say in politics (i.e. in how their children are raised)?

Tucic is a very sick and fascist man. It is a tyrannical government that uses people's money to teach their children things those people abhor. Atheists, like Jews and Muslims, don't generally believe in seperation of their faith and state, nor to they believe in small government.

Separation of Faith and State is only American, and revolutionary French ideal. Traditionally in Europe Church and State are more or less unioned, or state was seen as subservient to Roman-Catholical Church. In nordic countries like in modern Finland head of state nominates/nominated head of Church (Archibishop of local Evengelical-Lutheran Church), also Great Britain used or uses same kind of system. In Germany after 30 years war, religious freedom was made according to principle 'Quius regio, eius religio', whose land, his religion. So anyone who had not same religion as ruler of local state, must convert or move away.
