http://tinyurl.com/5bplz WHY DO THEY HATE US SO MUCH

Dear Editor,

The 911 Commission report details what went wrong, who was responsible, and suggests what to do to prevent similar attacks, but fails to examine the obvious questions - "Why did they do this. Why do they hate us so much as to sacrifice their lives?"

Until these questions are addressed honestly, and corrected, we can expect further attacks and more and more expensive countermeasures that hinder our lives, and our very freedom.

It is not just the Arabs who hate the USA. Our unwarranted attacks ............

I hear neocons tell us that it doesn't matter why.

Talking about why wouldn't help their claim that they attacked us because they hate our freedom.

Someone who doesn't talk about why has no real interest in preventing something in the first place. If you break out in rashes, would you ask why, what's causing it, or would you just demand treatment of those rashes?

George Bush said they "hate us for our freedom". So, in order for 'dem Ay-rabs not to "hate" us any more, George BushAshcroft just started taking away our freedoms! See, the terrorists have no more reason to hate us because our citizens are all slaves! We haven't been attacked here since 9/11! We're winning, you see. This brings the word 'appeasement' to a whole other level, for cryin's sake.

If they hate us for our freedom why don't they hate Canada, Australia, Germany, Switzerland etc....? If one pays attention it is obvious they also hate Russia and have carried out numerous attacks there. Since when is Russia a paragon of freedom?

Of course the liberals say they hate us because we are so well off and "they" are so downtrodden. Again Russia is not that well off but has a terrorist problem as well.

Geez, maybe there is a slight possibility that our policy of messing with their politics, supporting corrupt regimes that serve our purpose, and exporting arms to anyone who is the "enemy of our enemy" might have something to do with them hating us.

Both Russia and the US (for very different reasons) have tried to keep middle Eastern governments weak and divided. This seems like a better starting point than "they hate us for our freedoms."
