i saw the preview for the Manchurian Candidate the other day, sounds pretty interesting. heard it's a remake. anybody seen the original?

That's the connection. The climactic scene, extremely vivid today as it was long, long ago was the first movies' last: [B]the trance state is induced by showing a deck of cards, then laying them over, one by one.[/B]. This is a standard hypnotic state-induction technique (cf. M. Erickson -- the past master hypnotist -- people claimed that after shaking hands with him, they were 'under' -- he said it was in the way you released: draw your finger over the other's palm, he'll notice it, and your voice will pick up from there in his consciuosness - they knew all this sh*t then).
[B]The first movie ends there! -- with Frank Sinatra making the hit he's been programmed to do. The loud orchestra crescendos simultaneously, cymbols clashing, strong, strong sustained reverberration.[/B] [B]The next time you* hear an equally (in-)famous sound assault on human sensibility through the medium of mass communication is in the Beatles' Srgt. Peppers Lonley Heart's Club Band album, "A Day in the Life" -- "I heard the news today, O Boy...I'd love to turn you on. -non. -n.-n. -n. -n. [/B]
My thought is this (Please see post above: I hadn't seen yours, or would have spotted mine as "reply"). There has been a carry-over through unconscious processes ("primary process" in Freudian terms; pre-cognitive) to use this movie, Manchurian Candidate 2, as a multi-layered trance-induction technique [B]FOR THE GROUP[/B]. For its propaganda function, it doesn't make much difference how many actually see it; those who have will carry the "latent association" [B]FROM THE DECK OF PLAYING CARDS TO "MOTHER'S VOICE IN THE CELLPHONE".[/B] There is hardly anything else that connects this movie to the first, by way of actual plot -- only the post-hypnotic assassination suggestion (with 'triggered' return to control state). What is brought into pre-consciousness (by memory of the first), aroused as an expectation, is then split-off from, not shown, and instead the alternate induction method is followed (I've added the Beatle's SOUNDING NOTE from personal associations). This is a lot of communicational bang for that moviwe-makers buck.
Now: When one racalls that in historical context, MC1 was yanked only a week after it was released (made in '62) out of consideration of the Kennedy shooting. ....and carry forward to this context, overlaying the two trance-induction methods ...one comes to [B]all the card-sequencing has occurred and is occurring on TV as if to convey a "signal" message[/B] -- the CIA deck of 55 "most wanted terrorists" after the Iraq invasion; use of the Tarot Death card marked "I AM GOD", according to USATODAY/Murdoct (the Jew) media outlets, but according to corrected reports later, actually marked "CALL ME COD", a most curious thing; plus the steady use of cards laid out with Islamic Militant al Qwacko or worse ENEMY DE JOUR, WHOEVER THE CAN MAKE YOU HATE WITH AN ATTACHED BLOODY CORPSE OR TWO..and now the SUDDEN EMERGENCE OF POKER TV GAMBLING LAYING OUT SEQUENCES LEADING UP TO "THE RIVER CARD" --the 7th dealt, I think. "When your time's up, you go," I guess the message is. Destiny. Just like the Matrix movie said.... "We deal death in the name of Allah", they might as well write. Wonder whose side profits off hate and killing the most.
I think it is a way of trying their damnest to keep enough Americans "in the flow", or listening to "the sound of my voice ('my" -Kerry or Bush)", to wheeze and pedal the broke-down carnival calliope past everybody else One More Time.

Looks like we found out what happened with Bush missing 3 months while in the service,,,,,,,, He was in the state of Israel getting his mind cleaned.
