UNION CITY -- Pamela Lewis is no savvy activist.
She doesn't know how to write a press release or craft a picket sign, but the mother of five is determined to trigger a grass-roots campaign against a rule that bars her 6-year-old son from receiving a standardized IQ test -- because he's an African-American.
"It's discrimination, it's a violation of my son's civil rights and it's racism," Lewis said. "We're fighting this all the way."
The ruling comes from the 1979 case of Larry P. v. Riles, in which a judge decided that IQ tests could not be administered to African-American children to determine their placement in special education classes in California.
The ruling sought to address the overabundance of African-American students who were placed in special education classes after performing poorly on the IQ test, Lewis said.
Lewis doesn't deny that the test may have been discriminatory toward African-American children in the past. She's just convinced that the educational playing field is more level today.
"This is closet racism within the school district and the courts," she said. "Basically they're saying if you're black, you're dumb."
Lewis learned about the ruling when registering her son Nicholas for speech therapy with the New Haven Unified School District in May.
"This comes up occasionally in our school district," said Blaine Cowick, director of special services for the New Haven district. "Do I agree with Larry P. or not? I think there's room for it to be reviewed. I think it would have to be challenged by a group of parents, or a legislature would have to do some work on it. ... I don't think a district would be in a position of taking it on."
The district is following a state directive by withholding the test from African-American children, Cowick said.
Lewis said district officials told her that if she really wanted her son to take the test, she should mark him down as a Caucasian because he is biracial. She refused.
Lewis is searching for legal representation to help her efforts, but she hasn't found any takers. Some people she has spoken with have urged her not to fight for access to a racially biased test, she said.
But Lewis said her fight isn't to scrap the IQ test altogether.
Some African-American parents may want their child to take the test, and some may not, she said. As a parent, I know what's best for my child -- not the courts or the school district.
Lewis is planning to picket New Haven district offices in a few weeks to raise more awareness about the ruling, she said.
"My son could take that standardized IQ test and get a high score."

As you know the exams in order to enter college were lowered in order for the "minority" to qualify, and now the will do the same with the IQ test,,,,, instead of asking the square root of nine they will ask how much is two plus two.
PS: What the heck is the square root of nine, I do know that two plus two is five.

Broadly speaking, I believe that there is enough evidence to state that mean black IQ is less than mean white IQ. Nevertheless, every distribution has a tail: highly intelligent blacks DO exist; there just aren't many of them. I believe it is vital to educate these students separately from their almost certainly hostile environment -- just as Brit grammar schools educated bright poor Brits away from their often anti-intellectual homes. The removal of IQ tests is terribly harmful and particularly cruel: liberals hate excellence, particularly in races they secretely despise.

Yeah, of course there are smart blacks. However, they become overwhelmed by the unintelligent, or are overwhelmed by their own "families" - welfare dependent, ignorant uncaring women who see the kid only as a bump in the dollar amount on the monthly checks. Even if the smart blacks are identified, how in blazes would anyone be able to get them away from their families, from their neighborhoods? Then of course, you're getting into Eugenics ... and that's racist. Unless you are a jew.
It's a massive can of worms with no answers under the present "system".
To be honest, most of the bright blacks I've met were Africans (Nigerians actually) who bailed out of the Dark Continent once they finished college, and now work for Verizon and Xerox and so on. Adding to the foreign worker influx/problem. We should be sending all these foreigners back home to "enrich" their own lands. To advance them. Good luck.

Not allowing the black child to have an IQ test will be ruled discriminatory. Reporting his ape-level IQ will also be ruled discriminatory (the reason blacks aren't given IQ tests in CA). Solution: race norming of IQ tests.
Race norming of tests is a common practice. And, as part of this normal practice, the testing company will remain hush hush and never talk about the race norming.
Remember, whenever you take any government test, always mark "African American" when it asks for your race. It's good for a nice bonus on your score.

If blacks are intellectually inferior to whites, than aren't whites, in turn, intellectually inferior to Jews, as evident in IQ test scores (the average IQ of blacks is 85; the average IQ of whites is 100; the average IQ of Jews is 115)?

I doubt Jews average as high as 115 (another post addresses this). But, I will grant they average smarter than whites. Short answer, yes, whites are intellectually inferior to Jews.
I would think that Jews being a dispersed minority, the dumber Jews were more likely to marry non-Jews and eventually lose their Jewish identity. IQ, having a genetic component is subject to change with time because of selection. Also, IQ because it has an environmental component, is subject to change because of environment. Jews enjoy a much better environment than whites who are stuck in lousy public schools with slow blacks. For example, in Texas, whites who are not in public schools average 116.
Counting hispanics and other not-so-white races as whites also pulls down the average white IQ.
But, so what? I've never really understand why people are upset when someone points out that blacks have a lower IQ. Actually, I understand. They yell as if the very act of pointing out that blacks have lower IQs is what causes blacks to have lower IQs and oppresses blacks. Also, they want the public to believe that blacks fail to excel in areas where high intelligence helps because of oppression, not because of lack of black ability to excel in certain fields.
The value of a person is in his character, not his intelligence. And, I'm not offended in the least knowing that someone else is smarter than I am.
Anyway, there are a whole lot more smart whites than smart Jews simply because there are so many more whites.

True. It doesn't matter how smart you are if you don't do anything good with those smarts. It doesn't matter how smart your race is if your race doesn't make a good culture.

I would choose to be intelligent over smart any day of the week, a smart person only knows what he reads because that's what he remembers,,,,,, but an intelligent person is able to figure out a way to do something even without instructions.
You do have individuals who are both, intelligent and smart, but very seldom.
Of course, if he will actually use what he learned like in chemistry or as a mathematician then that's something else.

A mechanic that repairs that same engine deals more in practical applications. I would say they are two TYPES of intelligence. But I would have to say that the creator is of a higher, theoretical intelligence that is of more value than the man of practical intelligence because I think it is much easier for our theoretical man to cross over to the other side and perform practical applications than it is for the inverse.
