I'm sure any emails with the word "Jew" in them were neatly, and promptly, deleted upon arrival. One guy even signs himself 'not a racist', true to tunnelvisioned form. And while you can sense the anger bubbling up in Maine residents from this sampling you can equally sense the Jewish fixers behind this situation glancing at these responses disinterestedly, and clipping another Cohiba: not to worry. We anticipated this reaction, and we can handle this.

It is evident to most of us here that, so long as the Jew remains inviolate and unmentionable, our nation is doomed. But it's becoming even more evident that as long as the WN movement continues to tilt at the biggest possible windmills, and all at the same time - as long as we tether our wagons to dead and discredited ideologues who frighten our fellows to death even now - as long as we insist on either know-nothing religious revivals and/or anti-religious sneering iconoclasm, with no compromise brooked by either side - as long as we take the position that democracy is dead and the only question remaining is which form of authoritarian government would make the ideal replacement Mommy & Daddy to set policy and make our decisions for us - that we're kidding ourselves, and every One True Panacea we arrive at message-boarding in the wee hours will be Just Another Placebo in the cold light of morning.

I just wish there was a sane, self-interest-driven populism alive in this country that didn't immediately deteriorate into Jesus and/or Hitler Fan Clubs upon further scrutiny. The Far Right seems locked in a suicidal tug-of-war between the two. There has got to be another way to restore the Western World to the Western people. If there isn't, we are all cooked, because Jesus isn't coming back and neither is Adolf. And the Jews and their armies of shabgoys are already here and in charge.

We have received dozens of e-mails in response to the situation in Lewiston. Tell us what you think at wmtw@wmtw.com. Here is a sample of the e-mails:

"The state is in financial crisis, the city of Lewiston is also, why should this group of people expect to be treated different? I feel that if you receive welfare benefits of any kind you should have to work for the community doing volunteer work in what area you are able. Example cleaning streets, teaching kids, helping the elderly etc. Anything to help the city you are getting free benefits from. This is for all the people it doesn't matter if your white, black etc. What the mayor of Lewiston did was fair and I admire his stand on this issue. The state makes it too easy for people to get and stay on welfare - get off your butts and get a job." -- C.D.

"I am deeply saddened to read messages containing such negativity and hostile emotions towards the Somalis in Lewiston from fellow Mainers. I am also shocked at the mayor's audacity to send such a letter to a large group of citizens, where were his advisors on this issue? What did the mayor expect the reaction to be about this letter? What does this say about the people of Maine to all people from away, don't come here unless you have a job and if you need some assistance go back home because we will not support you? Very sad.. shame on you, Mayor Raymond," -- S.F.

"I agree with several of your prior responses. We can not keep supporting other countries without supporting ourselves first. We are becoming the armpit for other countries and need tighter restrictions on foreign people relocating in the United State and taking advantage of us. Soon we American are going to be the outcasts. We taxpayers are dealing with enough! No more free rides. They should all go home and maybe our taxes would not be so high and we may see a little more of the money we honestly earn. Schools should also look at not giving international students free rides, charity should start at home!" -- S.E.

"When too many people are riding in the wagon and too few people are pulling the wagon, resentments will fester. America is in a recession now. We can't afford to keep supporting everyone that comes to this country!!" -- B.G., in Florida

"I just got out of a college history class this afternoon, of course this was discussed. Most everyone was against the mayor, saying he is racist and it's not right for someone in his position to speak like that. What I wonder here is, what is the real problem. Is it racism? Or is it financial capability? After all it was the Somalis that said Maine is the biggest white state. I would think that Maine has enough unemployed persons and gives out enough aid to people that don't work, why invite more when there are Mainers in need of support that cant even get it? Furthermore if immigrants are leaving there country cause of conditions, then stop complaining about living in our country where things are handed to you for nothing. I say no more handouts to any unemployed person, get a job! Get an education! Get a life! No matter what color you are, it doesn't matter!" -- T.O., non racist Mainer

"Regarding the letter sent openly regarding the influx of Somalians, I have a very strong opinion just as the Mayor does. I am a single woman currently employed full time and looking for another part time job to supplement my income. I have no children and live in a neighborhood with many Somalis. When having cable installed, it was mentioned that they receive this at no or very little cost to them, along with high speed modems for computers. My cost? $100 monthly. I realize that many people cannot even afford this additional cost per month; I need my computer for my work. This luxury is necessary for me, whatever the cost. Why does the state feel it is necessary to have low income housing ($25 per month versus my rent of $500) equipped with such expensive extra costs? Also, if they feel they are being treated unjustly by asking to limit additional family members from coming to Lewiston, why do I not see any Somalian women working? Culture, smulture - get a job and stop having babies at our expense," -- D.L.K.

"How much more money should working people be asked to pay out for anyone who does not have a job? Why do they think that they have the right to be taken care of? No one is taking care of me and I'm not crying about it. I get up everyday and work for what I want. I'm disgusted by anyone asking for public handouts," --E.D

"I find the letter very un-American, especially because it comes from the leader of an American city. Imagine if Somali had been replaced with Irish, French Canadian, Italian, Jewish, etc. There would have been an outcry from all quarters. The Mayor is supposed to understand and uphold the laws of the city, state and country and not suggest they do not apply to some citizens and legal residents. This blatant disregard for the legal rights of residents of this country is not acceptable and implies a bigotry that no Maine resident should condone. If the Press Herald article stating the mayor has never met with the 1000-plus Somali community in his city is true then he should be especially ashamed of himself. They are "his citizens" in his city and deserve the respect and understanding seemingly lacking in the city's leader," -- S.S.

"My honest opinion of the Somalis? I think they've done a good job of alienating themselves from the Lewiston community. If people want to do them harm, I don't think they needed the mayor to make them feel that way. Maybe the Somalis should realize that there are people who don't like them or want them. Then, they should take a look at themselves and ask why. They are not blameless in this situation and need to accept some of the responsibility for their problems in the community," -- Anonymous.

"I think that Mayor Raymond did an excellent job in asking that the Somali's not bring anymore of they people here. I am French Canadian and my fore fathers were immigrants to Lewiston as well. People who immigrated from Canada to come work in the mills had to have someone already here earning a living and able to support them as well until they were self supporting. The Somali's are coming here, getting on welfare and inviting all of their relatives to come to Lewiston and living off the system until they can find jobs. They get health care for nothing and also get food stamps and everything the system offers. All Mr. Raymond stated was that there are enough here and we can't support anymore. I do not think that Mayor Raymond owes anyone an apology," -- D.G.

"Half of the Somalis are employed !!! What are the stats of employment of the 36,000 residents? If it is more than 50 percent than the problem should be easily seen !!!!!! Shouldn't the jobs be filled by people that have paid taxes all their lives? My sympathy goes out to the mayor that has to deal with this problem," -- Anonymous.

"The United States nor Maine should be the arm pit for every country that cant seem to get by. This country and state does not owe them a damn thing. If I go to my local office to apply for help, in told that I'm overqualified. I was born here, live here, take care one of our own first. Until every U.S. citizen is taken care of then we shouldn't handing out to every alien in this country," -- Anonymous.

"NO MORE . I can't feed my family in this state with its high taxes, and low job pay. Send all of them back. No more free rides, they just come here to feed off the tax payers," -- M.I.

"I agree with the mayor. The issue here is not race. If it was, why would so many Somali's come to Lewiston in the first place? The issue is exactly as the Mayor puts it: budgetary pressure. Since the town's assistance budget has already doubled, how much more should the taxpayers of Lewiston pay? And the fact that one-half of the Somali adults are not working is troubling. If all assistance were removed, would Lewiston continue to be such an attractive place? Lewiston is facing another problem as well: reverse racism. It didn't take very much to provoke the playing of the race card by the Somalis. To read the arguments in their letter is to believe they're living daily with the fear of KKK cross-burnings. Very, very unfair to the taxpayers of Lewiston," -- S.A.
I hope this invasion of backward Somalis in Maine (Maine, of all places?!?!) sparks something bigger throughout the US. I sense alot of beautiful anger in many of those responses. Great things come in small packages sometimes.

Aw, hell, if you gotta stick a bunch of Somalis somewhere in this huge country Maine is a good place for them since nobody but a bunch Ben and Jerry ice cream eating, hybrid Volvo-Saab bean sprout powered vehicle driving, Leonard Cohen listening pseudo intellectuals would ever set foot in the state anyway unless they needed a new transom installed on their 1954 Century Resorter runabout which they only bought because glass is so Bruno from Long Islandish.

My intelligence sources say that New England bears no resemblance culture wise to its image. 40 years ago Maine was full of white boys who would buy 10 forested acres, order a saw mill from Popular Mechanics, fell the timber needed, mill it and then consruct a 10 room house himself.

Nowadays they just call Bob Villa or Norm Abrams or whoever then sit down and have a heart to heart in which they shamefully confess that they only have 1.2 million to spend so could you please cut back on the frills.

I'd stay out of there. Somalis or not.

Why were they brought here in the first place? Other than to start trouble and breed chaos.

eric von zipper,

It is a shame to see New England go so far down hill, but hell look what's happened in the South. I understand in 1920's Maine was full of Klansmen. Now it's getting overrun by Afros how sad.

You folks who're worried about intra-movement squabbles, and heaven forbid, internet debates, consider this. In the first place, anyone who'd let that keep him from jumping on the take-America-back army rolling down the street isn't likely to do so, regardless. Secondly, there ain't gonna be a take-America-back army rolling down the street. Call that cynical and blame me for destroying the morale of millions of white men if you wish, but most people know it. The most we can hope for is to exchange information in furtherance of saving ourselves while the rest of the worthless white population leaps over the cliff.
