This CONSERVATIVE ALERT prepared for :

ISSUE: Should illegal aliens receive the same in- state college tuition breaks that U.S. citizens receive?

Illegal alien high school students are going to Capitol Hill this week to support legislation that would give them those tuition breaks and "provide a pathway" to legalization. According to CNSNews.com, an activist group called the Center for Community Change said some of the students will risk deportation by taking part in a mock graduation ceremony to call attention to the DREAM Act. As part of the demonstration on Capitol Hill, students dressed in caps and gowns will receive mock diplomas signed by Sens. Orrin Hatch (R-UT), Richard Lugar (R-IN), and Richard Durbin (D-IL), all sponsors of the Development Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act of 2003 (S. 1545), known as the DREAM Act.

Come again? U.S. Senators are awarding mock diplomas to ILLEGAL ALIENS???

"Senator Orrin Hatch's DREAM Act is a massive illegal alien amnesty program disguised as an educational initiative," charges FAIR, the Federation for American Immigration Reform (fairus.org). The DREAM Act will place American citizens in direct competition with illegal aliens for scarce slots in freshmen classes at state colleges and universities, while awarding the illegal alien students with an amnesty.

The bill will grant residency to an unlimited number of illegal aliens who have completed high school in the U.S., and will require states to make illegal aliens eligible for subsidized in-state tuition. Dan Stein, FAIR's Executive Director, noted that since the number of slots at universities is fixed and tuition dollars are short, for every illegal alien admitted, an American student or a legal resident was being turned away. "This massive give-away of higher education to illegal aliens comes at a time when every state university system is raising tuition and cutting education benefits," said Stein.

ACTION ITEM: This bill is a crass political calculation aimed at selling an amnesty disguised as an educational initiative. Democrats have already publicly stated that the DREAM act is just the beginning of a larger amnesty bidding war, and the bill will be used as a vehicle to extend amnesty to millions of illegal aliens. These Senators want to force the children of U.S. citizens to compete for admission and shrinking tuition assistance programs with people who are in the country illegally. They are literally taking opportunities and tuition assistance away from the children of citizens and giving them to illegal aliens.

At a time when most middle class families in this country are concerned about whether they are going to be able to provide a college education for their own kids, Senator Hatch comes along with a bill that will require them to subsidize a college education for an untold number of illegal aliens. This is INSANE.

The DREAM Act is set for mark-up in the Senate THIS Thursday (4/22). Go to our site below to send a FREE message to your Senators (with a copy being sent to Education Secretary Rod Paige), telling them to STRONGLY OPPOSE S. 1545, the DREAM Act (for even GREATER effect, choose "Extra Impact" to have your message HAND-DELIVERED to Congress for a small fee):

How can they "receive" something when they are not even supposed to be here?........ worry more about "how" to stop them from coming into this country and not how to educate them.

As long as you allowed them to come freely into this country they will take advantage of our liberal government and take us for all they can.

Once again, don't blame the illegal and blame instead those in Washington who allows them to come in with impunity.
How can they "receive" something when they are not even supposed to be here?........
Happens all the time. They get welfare, free medical care, public housing and to top it off, their children, if born here, are automatic citizens. Ain't this a great country!?

It is one thing to blame our lawmakers for not enforcing the law, which we all do. It is another to blame the illegal alien who knowingly breaks the law and by definition is a guilty lawbreaker.

Therefore both are guilty, so I will blame and heap scorn on both, thank you. To get away with a crime does not excuse the criminal from the guilt and deserved punishment from having committed it.

A big feature of politcal ads here in Texas during the primary season is politicos thundering that they will "stop illegal immigration in its tracks!" or some other similar rhetoric.

Gets votes, but we all know it's B.S. The thing is, they can simply amnesty all the illegals already here, and technically, they have stopped illegal immigration, but only by redifining it as "legal."

crack down on the taco stands, the restaraunts , landscaping and construction crews. it will surely drive prices up, but im willing to pay the difference, question is, how many others are ? Even if prices went up, companies would still try to employ illegals and keep the profits on labor costs.

hammer the companies that hire them, and it might not completely stop them from coming, but it would go a LONG ways. Then there is the issue of social services. That is a tougher nut to crack.

The best solution ive heard of is "operation wetback 2" - round'em up and pack'em back across the border. from then on, treat border corssers as enemies. shoot on site. we all know none of that will happen though.

looking foward - the only outcome i see is one of more immigration and other cities becoming more like LA and mexico city. Sooner or later though, the financial issues will come to a head. "fence sitters" that normally dont want to be called "waycists" will also get tired of financing their own demise...i think. never say never though, the stupidity of people never ceases to amaze me.

Why waste good free labor?,,,,,,,,

First time arrested? send them back,

Second time arrested? one week in a labor camp, cleaning the roads.

Third time arrested? one month in the labor camp.

Fourth time arrested? six months.

Fifth time ? one year...............

They want to play the game? they will pay...........

As a Latin from Cuba I really hate to say that but the law is the law and together with the good people we are getting a lot of garbage,,,,,,

Especially dual citizens, and all their defenders too..

Me too. I'd rather pay $3 for a $1 head of lettuce than see my taxes triple. At least I have a choice whether or not to buy the lettuce (and it wouldn't be picked by someone with TB and/or Hep A to boot). I of course don't have a similar choice when it comes to making my tax "contirbution" every year, since there's always a guy with a gun and a badge behind the illegal with his hand stretched out, ready to seize the house should I not pay my "fair" share.

I'm with Roy Batty. Things aren't going to improve until Whites shrug the guilt of the world off their shoulders and realize it's "us or them." Of course this won't happen until they have to fight off groups of illegals and minohtees just to get their kids a handful of corn and a cup of semi-clean water. Might be too late then, but who knows. The anglo is pretty slow to anger, and he's been tranquilized for years through the most sophisticated agitprop apparatus the world has ever seen, but once he gets going, he tends to settle the issue pretty decisively. Just ask the "native" Americans.
