Citizens of Illinois , get a rope!

A rope may be what is needed. Certainly, the voters in Illinois can't make effective change through the ballot box. The Illinois Republicans are virtually indistinguishable from the state's Democrats. To prove my point, just look at the previous governor, GOPer George Ryan. Ryan's policies: pro-tax, pro-abortion, anti-death penalty, were those of a liberal Democrat. In fact, in 1998 Ryan's Democratic opponent, Glenn Poshard, was the more conservative of the two.

And, considering his recent indictment, Ryan was as corrupt as any Chicago machine Democrat.

I am originally from chicago and please believe me when I say, the state and country governments are all corupt and there is no law and order in any of the state. Sure there are a few small communities that try to do things right but as soon as it gets to the county level the coruption kicks in to high gear. I was in college for two years to become a C.O.P. and one day after going through the written testing part of the police exam I happened to get a phone call from a friend of the family. He said someone had let him know that I was interested in becoming a police officer and all I had to do to get the job was finish my oral and physical exam. He told me he would make sure I was placed hi on the department list and I would be sure to get the job.

At first I was really happy to get such wounderful news and looked forward to being a police officer in the near future. A few days later I was talking to my father and he said in passing that he did not think I would like becoming a police officer and the type of people who do that type of work in chicago are not the sort of people I would normally wish to be around. I was young and idealistic at the time and my father did'nt want to take that from me so I asked him about the phone call I had recieved and he said, think about the fact that you will get the job and never earned it. What does that say about the people at the top. The sad part was I had already had two years of college to become a cop and now the lightning bolt had hit me. I really did not want to become a police officer anymore. So I went into other lines of work and have been much happier for it. Now don,t get me wrong not all cops get the job like this and their are many police officers that deserve and love their jobs. I just could not abide by the fact in chicago it is who you know and not what you know.
