Three G.I. men receive jail for fraud case Last modified at 12:37 a.m. on Wednesday, March 3, 2004

OMAHA -- Robert Sandoval-Cruz, Maricruz Castillo-Flores and Jaime Chavez-Uribe were all recently sentenced for fraudulently using a Social Security number that wasn't assigned to them, the U.S. District Attorney's Office announced Monday. The last known address of all defendants was listed as Mobile Manor Trailer Court, No. 1 in Grand Island. Sandoval was sentenced to 107 days imprisonment followed by three years of supervised release, and Castillo and Chavez were sentenced to 108 and 109 days in prison, respectively, followed by three years of supervised release. The facts in all three cases are similar. Each of the defendants was present in the United States illegally and each had acquired a phony birth certificate from Texas or Puerto Rico. Each then used the phony birth certificate to obtain a Nebraska driver's license or identification card, which they then used to obtain employment. These three cases are part of "Operation Pickpocket" wherein the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Social Security Administration are working together to stop the practice of obtaining illegal documents.

This article is intersting for what it doesn't contain. Note the reference to "supervised release", note that there is no reference to "deportation".

SUPRISE!!!
