It's nothing personal.
Personally I like the guy.
The problem is he contributes very little of substance.
IMO, he should be banned before he is given a chance to become disruptive here.
OD is a place for serious discussion, activism, and community among like minded people. A high volume of Newswatcher-style mindless chat will ruin the forum.

Maybe for the time being you should just turn on your "ignore" buttons.

Newswatcher isn't obnoxious; he's just an extremely high volume poster with little or nothing to say on the issues that matter to most OD members. At least, he is an extremely high volume poster over on LF.
But perhaps you all are right -- given that rban and some other real assholes have been allowed to roam the forum relatively unhindered for weeks or even months at a time, it would probably be unfair to ban a benign guy like Newswatcher before he has actually done something to warrant banning.
