In a move which has taken the city of Stoke by surprise the British National Party has gained one new councillor this afternoon. Stoke City Councillor Barry Cuthbertson has this afternoon taken a brave and bold step to cross over to the BNP.

Clr. Cuthbertson who represents the Norton and Bradeley Ward joins Clr. Steve Batkin from the Longton North ward to form a BNP Group.

West Midlands Regional Organiser Simon Darby, told us that this will give us a real boost, Clr. Cuthbertson who is well liked and highly respected by his ward constituents brings years of experience to the BNP Group. At a Press Conference in Stoke earlier this afternoon, Clr. Cuthbertson told reporters that "the people of Stoke had been brought to their knees by years of political mismangament at a national and local level." He went on to say "my father fought at Dunkirk, supposedly for freedom but if he could see what was being done in Britain to curtail freedom of speech, he would turn in his grave".

The BNP welcomes Clr. Cuthbertson and will give him our fullest assistance in his work for the people of Stoke.
