Groups like Anarchists World Fair, Radical Teachers, Time's Up, World War III Arts-in-Action, Campaign to Demilitarize the Police and Still We Rise, to name a few, have also been meeting together and sharing information for months, operating under an umbrella called the No RNC Clearinghouse. Their meetings are drawing more than 100 people, with an abundance of body piercing, tattoos, dreadlocks and army fatigues, and are organized with the precision and language of a business meeting, including flow charts and agendas.

Bill Dobbs, a spokesman for United for Peace and Justice, a coalition that organized an antiwar rally in Manhattan last February that attracted crowds estimated at 100,000 to 500,000 people, said that the size and intensity of the planning were not surprising.

"All signs point to the convention becoming a magnet for protest as so many New Yorkers and others want to speak their mind about Bush policies, foreign and domestic," Mr. Dobbs said after attending the most recent Clearinghouse meeting.

All signs point to this being another American Police State agit-prop operation to discredit sensible and intelligent opposition to the Bush Reich.

Army Intelligence estimated that one in five protesters at Chicago in 1968 was an agent: state, local or federal. The fix was in to dirty up the Democrats and it appears to have worked. It's well known that most union organizations were infiltrated by government-corporate agents a century ago to make certain Americans would never have an indepentant labor movement. And wow, we don't.

Those groups descending on the Free Speech Zones with tattoos and dreadlocks sound like regime operatives and their useful idiots to me. Is this the "designated dissenters" official program list? World War III Arts-in-Action??? Give us a break!

Well said, Ragnar.

There's no doubt that the Police-State will crush anyone who gets uppity at the GOP Convention in NYC. I live here. You can't even smoke a cigarette without cops staring you down waiting for you to toss it on the street so they can lock you up for littering. Nevermind the Bollocks, the f*cking cops are gonna crush the dissenters with a force previously only seen in Venezuela, Bolivia, Mexico or any other assorted Third World sh!thole. People are going to die. Of course, I wish the protesters all the best. Anything that disrupts the pure evil machine that is the FedGov is worthy of praise....dreadlocks, piercings or anarchists not withstanding.

Yes. Yes, it would. Funny, too. Of course, they'd use it as a pretext to pre-emptively arrest, among others, probably some of the very people who post on this site, but such a pretext is what the Maxists used to call (and probably still do, for all I know) "an historical inevitability." If we're going to have such a pretext, it might as well be one we can appreciate prior to the subsequent crackdown....

Why would anyone in their right mind hold a convention in New York City?
