Most people don't realize that legend maintains that Orthodox Christianity was founded in Glastonbury, England by the uncle of Jesus Christ, Joseph of Aramethea, in 35 AD. This continued until the 8th century when the English/Celtic Church was brought under complete papal authority.
To this day, the Orthodox Church recognizes dozens of ancient Anglo-Saxon Saints.
