No more tacos made from cows' brains, and no more fried cow intestines -- the Mexican delicacies will be disappearing by order of the USDA.

It's the latest safeguard against Mad Cow disease spreading to humans. The USDA had already declared that the nervous system and eyes of a cow were too risky to consume. As of Monday, officials banned the shipment of cow brains and the lower part of the small intestine.

At Taco Rico -- a popular San Francisco restaurant -- manager Juan Lopez says he will have to stop selling the popular Mexican stew called menudo because the restaurant will no longer get shipments of tripas, Spanish for small intestine.

"The main ingredient for menudo is tripas," Lopez said. "So we cannot use it anymore, so we have to stop making it."

The USDA says it is safe to eat the items right now, if you buy them in a restaurant or have them at home, calling the new restriction an additional safeguard. But Rafael Quintanal, who owns a well-known Mexican catering truck near the San Francisco's Hall of Justice, said he immediately stopped selling brain tacos known as cesos. Quintanal said if the USDA says he can sell brain tacos again, he will, but they were never that popular anyway.
