Whether you realize it or not, the present pope feels heââ¬â¢s been given a mission from God to unite Europe! In his "Declaration to Europe," in Santiago, Spain, in 1982, the pope proclaimed: "I, Bishop of Rome and Shepherd of the Universal Church, from Santiago, utter to you, Europe of the ages, a cry full of love: Find yourself. Discover your origins, revive your roots."
Sounds harmless enough, but is it? Pope John Paul II is agreeing with Dr. Otto von Habsburg, a key figure in the European unification movement, who regards "the cross" as Europeââ¬â¢s compass into the final frontier: "The cross doesnââ¬â¢t need Europe, but Europe needs the cross." Will his son, Karl, soon claim his "divine right" to the Austro-Hungarian throne? He is the heir to the "Holy Roman Empire." Will he be called upon to serve as a figurehead, an emperor of sorts, over the United Kingdoms of Europe? (Remember the pope will have given life to these dormant thrones by delivering the masses in exchange for their allegiance).
Every European ought to dig deeper to find out whatââ¬â¢s really going on. Donââ¬â¢t be fooled by surface appearances. God holds you responsible for whom your Parliament elects or allows into power! Beware of wolves in sheepââ¬â¢s clothing! Look before you leap! Weââ¬â¢d do well to remember that the "Holy Roman Empire" was long known as the "Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation."
GERMANY is clearly the HEAD of this emerging EUROSTATE (Isa. 10:5-6). The German Church has already left its mark on the Maastricht treaty with the Vaticanââ¬â¢s seal of approval. As reported in The Economist, "Never on a Sunday," an ominous blue law was forcibly inserted in Europeââ¬â¢s grand design. Could this be the cornerstone for their reconstructed Europe?
This greater Church-State collaboration ought to be of grave concern to every individual and country that cherishes religious liberty and national independence.
Donââ¬â¢t fall so quickly in love with the popeââ¬â¢s proposals. His model of the "Holy Roman Empire" would forge every European in its image. Once the die is cast, you wonââ¬â¢t be free to form your own thoughts! Your every move will be monitored within its boundaries. Anything that runs counter to this pattern would be cut out! Those who donââ¬â¢t go with the flow will be ostracized from the European community and excommunicated from the Catholic Church! Anyone without his or her European ministersââ¬â¢ mark of approval will be left out in the cold, unable to earn a living (Rev. 13:17)! Youââ¬â¢ll be forced to comply! Is THIS what you want? Itââ¬â¢s what youââ¬â¢ll get if you surrender your sovereignty (Rev. 17:13)!
If the "Holy Roman Empire" were truly Christian, it would be ideal to resurrect and follow. But itââ¬â¢s a false Christianity and a COUNTERFEIT KINGDOM! Itââ¬â¢ll go the route of all the other religious revivals of Rome - into the ash-heap of history! Some of us will be more than happy to fiddle when Rome burns for the final time! God encourages our celebration: "Go forth from Babylon! Flee from the Chaldeans! With a voice of singing, declare, proclaim this, utter it to the end of the earth; say, ââ¬ËThe LORD has redeemed His servant Jacob!ââ¬â¢"(Isa. 48:20). Europeââ¬â¢s fall will be Israelââ¬â¢s restoration!

These sorts of predictions have been made for centuries. What they all have in common is that they've all turned out to be wrong. It's just make-believe and nothing more.

The "predictions" are PROPHECIES meant for now. We've come to the end of the road; the stage is being set for Europe's final conflict. Seeing will be believing. How amazing that some foresaw - by divine foresight - the confederation of European states that will soon ignite WWIII. The world is in for a rude awakening but will have plenty of time to think about it - if they survive - in CONCENTRATION camps!

This sort of hate the Germans for all eternity gets a little bit tiresome.
If there is ever another war between Germany and Europe too, and America it will only come about because the Jews and certain plutocratic interests agitated for it. Hell, I see some of the garbage attempting to provoke as much hatred as possible in the media and it is the usual suspects who raise the most cain about "euroweenies" and how "we" need to get tough with them.
You're right on one point about not getting fooled. Some of us won't, for we know our history and twice in the last century we've seen this sort of crap.
I'm not interested in another world war. The only war that is worth fighting today is against the people I've listed above.

This article is so rife with dishonesty I don't know where to start. A corrupt catholic bureacracy may lead to the rise of a modern antichrist, but this article merely twists the pope's words. When the pope asks that Europeans "revive their roots" he is most likely referring to the Christian, post-Roman roots that paved the way for the chivalry of the middle ages. In modern europe, religion is largely a social formality. Unless given more info, any intelligent person must assume this is what bothers the pope, not the lack of imperial ambition amongst the european populace.
Then this -

Yes, without any other information this still sounds harmless to any thinking person. I don't know much about Dr. Otto, but this quote makes him seem like a pretty pious man who obviously considers Europe to be dependent on Christianity. Yet the author then continues by asking whether his son will re-claim the Imperial throne. Did I miss something? Why would Europe now rally around the Hapsburgs again? The slavs and the French among others would find him downright divisive.
And since when does God hold you "responsible for whom your Parliament elects or allows into power!" What Bible are you reading? Read Psalm 37. While we are on biblical references, the reference to Isaiah 10:5-6 as "proof" of Germany's threat is just pretentious. Since when do Assyrians signify Germany?
The real problem with the article is the way it claims these events are inevitable yet still stirs up anti- German sentiment. What I mean is this, even if I assume that your interpretation of biblical prophesy is correct(which I don't) then either the prophecy is true or it isn't. If it is true, then the Empire of the AntiChrist will arrive in Europe no matter what, and the sooner it happens, the sooner its collapse will bring about the glorious new age that you claim will follow.
This reminds me of how fundamentalists ramble on about how miraculous Isreal's survival is, but then allocate billions to prop Israel up; if they really had faith they would let Israel survive own its own. Likewise, if they really believed these events to be inevitable they would not be demonizing the Germans; they do so because they obviously hope to halt Germany's rise and make the prophecies they profess to believe in void.

HERBERT W. ARMSTRONG PASADENA, CALIFORNIA 91123
Pasadena
July 24, 1983
Also there have arisen in Europe two outstanding political
leaders, both writing and speaking out and writing books, saying "EUROPE MUST UNITE POLITICALLY." One of those was called the "Strong Man of Europe," Dr. Franz Josef Strauss. Some 12 years ago I entertained him at dinner in my home in Pasadena, and he spoke to the faculty and students of Ambassador College. I have maintained contact with him. He wrote the book The Grand Design.
The other arrived two weeks ago from Munich, West Germany,
to have a meeting with me. He is Dr. Otto von Habsburg, head of the 700-year-old House of Habsburg, which ruled the Holy Roman Empire in the dynasty prior to Napoleon, and one of the most prestigious royal families in Europe. Dr. Habsburg was born the Archduke of Austria. His family was exiled during World War II, and he rejected Nazism and sided with the Allies during the war. He has since renounced his title. He very probably has a more clear grasp of international affairs than any man today. He is author of the famous book The Social Order of Tomorrow, giving a design for reunification of Europe startlingly close to the biblical description of this prophesied resurrected Europe to occur just prior to the Second Coming of Christ.
I had long wanted to meet Otto von Habsburg personally. I
missed meeting him in Athens, Greece, last November, returning from my visit to our churches in South Africa and in Nairobi. However, Ellis La Ravia, vice president of the Ambassador Foundation, had arrived in Athens a couple days ahead of me from Pasadena. He attended a meeting there of the European Parliament, of which a leading member is Dr. Habsburg, who expressed regret at missing a meeting with me. He said then he would be so occupied with the then coming West German elections and sessions of the European Parliament, the very first date he could be free would be July 10 of this year. He said that on that day he would fly to Pasadena for a meeting with me. He kept his word and arrived on schedule in Pasadena two weeks ago this afternoon.
Dr. Habsburg addressed students and campus employees on
Monday at 11 a.m. Mr. La Ravia and I took him on a brief visit through the Auditorium and then to luncheon in the faculty dining room. That evening he was guest at a formal dinner in my home with other Church officials and their wives. I also had a private meeting with him, as did Mr. Gene H. Hogberg, chief of our world news staff. While here he stayed in a guest apartment on campus. Tuesday night he addressed the Los Angeles World Affairs Council in Beverly Hills.
Wednesday morning he flew with me and some of our staff in
our G-II jet to Washington, D.C. There he addressed the John Davis Lodge Center for International Studies at the University club.
In my private meeting with him, Dr. Habsburg expressed
disappointment that progress on the European reunification had moved so slowly. I expressed the conviction that some totally unexpected world-shocking event could occur suddenly at any time that would high pressure European nations to go together overnight, adopting the constitution already prepared by the European Parliament. This Parliament, although without substantial power, is composed of leaders who are framing the constitution in advance. He mentioned that there are madmen such as Kadafi and Khomeini who could pull off some startlingly unexpected international act that would press the panic button in Europe.
Incidentally, Drs. Habsburg and Strauss are close friends,
and for some reason I do not understand -- but may be of God's designing -- both are very friendly to me and to Ambassador College.
Now let me tell you WHY I know God has HELD BACK end-time
world events -- and WHY he will cause things to snap together suddenly when least expected and bring this world suddenly to its END, and the coming of Christ in supreme power and glory to rule ALL NATIONS, ushering in the KINGDOM OF GOD and the WORLD TOMORROW!
In Revelation 7, God suddenly holds up the plagues of the
Day of the Lord, UNTIL certain events happen -- the sealing of the 144,000 and the emergence of the Laodicean Church. He has held events back before. Yet he says that, when HIS time comes, he will make a speedy work in the end time and cut his work short.
In Matthew 24:32-35 Jesus said that when we see world
events now occurring, we are to KNOW that this END is very near - - within this generation. Yet of the day and hour (verse 36) we cannot know. Yet when it strikes it will strike suddenly, unexpectedly, like a trap that springs shut on a hapless rat without warning. If one knew at what hour a thief would come in the night to burglarize his house, he would have watched and been ready to resist him.
We have been seeing these end-time world events coming for
several years now. God has delayed -- held up world events. Yet he will SUDDENLY cut his work short, and END things, as unexpectedly and suddenly as when the trap springs on a rat before he can move.
When Europe suddenly unites, our work, which Christ is
doing with and through us, will quickly be over, and Christ's coming very soon thereafter.
Brethren, THANK YOU for the generous response to my last
month's request for special funds for needed construction at the Orr, Minn., camp for the Summer Educational Program (SEP), for youths between ages 12 and 18. These camps are SO VERY important. These youths will be LEADERS in the World Tomorrow! We must all PRAY all the more as we see end events coming to pass. Pray for one another. And, please, also for me. I do need your prayers. The WORK needs our support.
With deep love, in Jesus' name,
Herbert W. Armstrong
How terrible!! They want to keep one of the Ten Commandments!! It is a sign of evil :starwars:
The 10 Commandments are not terrible, they're wonderful! However, the COUNTERFEIT SUNday - which is not part of the 10 Commandments is TERRIBLE. Jesus, every prophet and righteous king and person in the holy Bible kept the 7th day Sabbath, the only Sabbath sanctioned by holy Scripture. They worshipped the Biblical God on this aforementioned holy 7th day Sabbath, but NEVER ON A SUNDAY!

Yes, but we're not under the Old Testament law. The Church celebrates Christ on Sunday, and doesn't hold to the Saturday sabbath. This has been true from the earliest days of the Church. But I suppose that Herb Armstrong knows better than all the Church Fathers and 2,000 years of Tradition?

Is this good stuff, or what? Herbert W. Armstrong!
I'm coming to appreciate Germans more every day -- what they have had to take and put up with. And Catholics, more. Armstrong isn't my kind of anti-Catholic, which focuses chiefly on interferrence in American politics.

Armstrong is just another low-brow cult leader. I think he's dead now. They believe the Germans are the Assyrians, so our natural enemies, i.e. the enemies of Joseph's sons, Ephraim and Mannessah, or the English speaking world. This is why the nut case poster uses the nom de plume Ben Ariel. You see, the English speaking nations are the sons of the Lion, and he is making a statement.
Now, for all of you who don't frequent libraries, the old Hebrew callendar and ours don't "jive". To make a long story short, theirs was a lunar callender with 360 days per year. Their equivalent of leap year was for the Sanhedrin to set aside days apart from the regular callender, and not count them in the chronology. In more primitive times, these may have been the new moon celebrations mentioned in the Scriptures, but not authorised by Biblical law.
So, yes, some years the Sabbath was on what we would call Saturday, and some years Thursday, ect..
We use a Roman callender, and it is solar in nature. I repeat, it cannot correspond to the lunar callender. I believe this is one of the reasons that the Commandment is so clear that "the seventh day" is simply that, the seventh day in anyone's culture.
I could go on, and I will to answer specific questions if anyone is interested. But the reason that the Seventh Day Advenists and World Wide Church of God lightweights don't push their theories as openly as they once did back in the 60s and 70s is that their leadership now knows that their whole raison d'etre was based on an embarasing lack of scholarship. It just hasn't filtered down to their useful idiot yet.
