The Soviets demanded that the German military be shot dead without due process. The American leadership was agreeable in principle, but required a facade of legal procedure. The result was similar.
The defeated were murdered by the victorious, and the subsequent historical literature, written by the victors, reflects this terrible and unjust verdict - exclusively - to this day. Novelists and propagandists in all but name.
Numerous military commanders were killed or imprisoned for no other reason than being German Soldiers. The elements of vengence, jealousy, envy and prejudice towards the Wehrmacht was clearly apparent among the allied politicians and lawyers.
However, many British, American and French, commanders-in-the-field, submitted testimony on behalf of the German Soldiers - with regard to their supreme discipline, professionalism and self-effacing endeavours in their duties. But this factual documentation had no effect on the pen-pushers, the small men of the 'legal' and political - the cowardly little men. The vindictive frightened little men, that rely on rumour and false accusation, and make a living out of it.
Since Nürnberg, the American and British prosecutors have doubted the legality and fairness of those trials. But they are cowards. And they are worthless beings, since they comment after the executions and unjust sentences - career first and justice second.
The Soviets laughed. The British pondered. The Americans justified.
And the Germans?
