Some Fascinating Aspects of The Magna Charta
The Magna Charta, and the limits it placed on the Jews, and the following events in English law.
The Magna Charta or the Great Charter, was reluctantly signed
by England's King John at Runnymede in 1215. This document is considered the foundation for Liberty granting freemen certain rights. The Magna Charta contains 63 provisions. Some of the important articles are:
No freeman can be arrested, imprisoned or deprived of his property without a trial by a jury of his peers.
Justice shall not be sold, delayed or denied - (thus came the right to a "speedy trial").
No taxes shall be levied or collected by force - (thus the concept of no taxation without representation was formed).
The 10th and 11th Charta Articles: "If one who has borrowed from the Jews any sum, great or small die before that loan be repaid, the debt shall not bear interest while the heir is under age, of whomsoever he may hold; and if the debt fall into our hands, we will not take anything except the principal sum contained in the bond.
"And if anyone die indebted to the Jews, his wife shall have her dower and pay nothing of that debt; and if any children of the deceased are left under age, necessaries shall be provided for them in keeping with the holding of the deceased; and out of the residue the debt shall be paid, reserving; however, service due to feudal lords; in like manner let it be done touching debts due to others than Jews."
Before 1215 in England, the Jews charged 43% to 86% interest on loans to Christians. Article 10 protects an underage son from having his inheritance (property) confiscated by the Jews due to his inability to pay the usury debt. Article 11 protects a widow and her children from having her home and other property seized by the Jews if she was unable to pay her deceased husband's debt.
King Henry III of England
In 1235, King Henry III with the backing of the Pope, made laws forbidding Jews from using Christians as servants, and fixed fines for forgery, forbidding Jews from acting as physicians to Christians, and preventing Jews from "adulteration of the coin."
King Edward I of England
In 1289, Edward I had Parliament to adopt the "Statutum Judaismo". This law forbade the Jews from continuing their practice of usury (loaning of money with interest). In 1290, Edward expelled the Jews from England "for all time to come". About 20,000 Jews were forced to leave England in 1290. Historians agree that England enjoyed prosperity after the Jews left.
The English jurist, Sir Edward Cook wrote; "the expulsion of the Jews had finally eliminated the theft of English property by the moneylenders, but also put an end to the sins and evils arising from their wicked usury."

Bardamu, thanks for the post. I have to ask why people continue to bash Christianity for the downfall of Rome and subsequently all the ills of the West, when I read parts of the Magna Carta such as the ones you posted above.
These great ancestors of ours who wrote such great articles like this one didn't seem like they were in "love with their enemies".

Excellent Post, Bardamu! Could you give us a source(s)? The quote above is in a nutshell how the Jews get power.

For the downfall of Rome christianity was PARTLY responsible.
All the rest was nothing which came from christianity in its whole but certain parts of christianity in the Calvinist church.
The American I would call "Neo-christians" influenced at first the other Christians in US and then in the rest of the world especially after WWII.
Christianity had many weaknesses even long before, but it was able to survive on high niveau and protecting the substance of Europas folks and races even with all their failures.
Especially the Lutheran church was a church in the interest of Europeans before WWII.
