Today there was a little notice in the Japan Times on-line about the movement of the yen. It was as below:
Market Moves as of 5PM Thursday October 30 in Tokyo
126.16-20 yen per dollar (-18.14 from Wednesday)
This movement in the value of the yen is incredible, and I doubt that ever has been a precedent. The Japanese are pumping up the dollar to restore the trading value of their currency as the cheap yen helps them compete in world markets. The effect this change will have on other countries simply does not enter their head. This will make things very difficult for Americans and their products to compete in the world market. Where are the free traders now? Will the American media cover this with the import it deserves, or will Israeli settlers crowd this news of immense importance out of the headlines?

As of Friday at Noon EDT the yen was quoted quite differently in the Japan Times. I assume they made a mistake yesterday.
Market Moves as of 5PM Friday October 31 in Tokyo
108.90 - 109 yen per dollar
