Anyone have experienced advice on a reliable place to register a domain name. I've heard of problems with some not being cooperative with customers. What issues do I need to know about when registering a domain name?
Web host suggestions also.
To save from posting several threads on the subject. What's a general rundown on best server platform, etc.

I don't know how much disk space or badnwidth is enough. If FTP is needed, what the best os for the server is, etc.

That is why Earthlink has an outstanding program. You can have a starter site for as little as under $20.00 U.S. a month.you can click on all of the links on that site and find the information you seek.
Here is the page to try your domain address, one that you pick or make one up that is eye catching: www.earthlink.net/biz/hosting/domainreg/
A starter site could easily handle all that you need to do. A 2 year domain registration is $40.00 U.S.
All in all, you have some of the best support and outstanding service for your money. I pobably sound like a salesman, but the fact is that Earthlink is good.

Good rates, good service, but they're a Canadian company so you might find they'll be more strict about allowing any type of racialist content if that's what you have in mind. You can also register your domain names through them, currently $10.00/year
As for FTP, the OS on the server shouldn't matter, it will all look the same from the client side.
