**General's 'Satan' remarks freedom of speech: Rumsfeld **

WASHINGTON - U.S. Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld is downplaying a three-star general's controversial comments about Satan and Muslim extremists.
Lt.-Gen. William Boykin has made several speeches at evangelical Christian churches. In his talks, he portrayed the campaign against terrorism as a religious battle.
News media in the United States reported his comments this week, showing him dressed in an army uniform complaining about Muslims warlords worshipping idols.
"We're a Christian nation," he said. "Our foundation and our roots are Judeo-Christian.ââ¬Â¦ And the enemy is a guy named Satan."
Some Islamic leaders in the United States called on the White House Thursday to have Boykin reassigned. He is the Pentagon's deputy undersecretary of defence for intelligence.
Rumsfeld repeated the Bush administration's position that the fight against terrorism is not a war against Islam but against people "who have tried to hijack a religion."
The defence secretary told reporters that he hadn't seen Boykin's comments. But he called him an officer with "an outstanding record" who has the right to speak his mind.
"We're a free people. And that's the wonderful thing about our country," Rumsfeld said.
"I think that for anyone to run around and think that that can be managed and controlled is probably wrong. Saddam Hussein could do it pretty well, because he'd go around killing people if they said things he didn't like."
A preliminary review of Boykin's remarks suggest no military rules were broken, according to Gen. Richard Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff
"There is a very wide gray area on what the rules permit," Myers said.

Boy is that Boykin an idiot. A [B]Christian[/B] (solely) nation?? For him to say that he had plenty of balls, but did he have to spoil it with the next sentence??

Yes, unfortunately, I have to agree with you and you in turn, have to agree with me that this same blindsightedness affects Europe and your country in particular, as well.
I suggest this blanket smearing of my entire country cease. Just as I despise those over here that engage in mindless European bashing, I despise those in Europe that do the same thing to America. It is stupid and ignorant and plays right into the hands of the Jews and plutocrats. Indeed, what we have here is them using the age old strategy of divide and conquer.
If you can't bring yourself to do that then perhaps you should go elsewhere. Most of us prefer to understand the past as verses dwelling in it.

And your posting this on an American board or a German one? Hell, could you even post that on a German board? From what I've heard, the answer is no you couldn't.
Further, there aren't any politicians/militarys/economists on a national level that represent me and my views here in the States, save Dr. Ron Paul.

Ahhh, poor little Leland! Picked on by evil Americans! I personally don't care whether you want National Socialism or not, that is your business. But after reading your posts, you have convinced me even more that I don't want it here in America. The idea of people like you having unlimited power is simply awful.
If Hitler were alive today he would put one of his spitshined jackboots up your backside. The reason for that is a number of us understand why Germany did what it did in the past and don't condemm them carte blanche for it. If you had any brains you would know that from doing a search on me, for example, with my username and the keyword "Hitler." You piss off the very people who you should be working with. As a proponent of your view you do an extremely lousy job. If I were Abraham Foxman I'd want you posting on everyboard I could for you just create more enemies for your position.
You come on this board with a 57 year old baggage train and think that you can insult everyone here with impunity, some of whom would agree with you on a number of issues. Speaking for myself, my problem isn't Hitler, it is jerks like you.

With respect to dissidents and American gentiles but it was not Germany that led war on Iraq for Jewish interests, and it was not Germany that supported Israeli assault on Syria recently.

On this whole issue of Leland I have something to say. Although I don't agree 100% with his views or with his debating techniques, I do think it'd be a shame if he were banned from this forum. Me and Leland have gotten along very well since the beginning and we agree on many things. In fact I think the only time we ever really bashed each other was in the Poland during WW2 debate.
If there's one character trait that defines me, it is my loyalty to fellow comrades(both online and offline). I consider Leland an online comrade and I will stand by him so he can remain here at OD.

I've got nothing against Europeans as a whole, but when they get on their arrogant high horse like so many of them are wont to do, it really rubs me the wrong way. I deal with these guys every day and you don't see it very often in the English, Scots/Irish or Spanish (off the top of my head), but it is very common in the Dutch, Aleman and French. It's easy to understand why our ancestors packed up and left two hundred years ago.
