With policies that forbid local law enforcement from questioning the legality of somebody's residence, such as the LAPD's Special Order 40, there's no need for illegal aliens to fear being apprehended once they're within the U.S. The odds of one being struck by lightening are probably better.

Faust- to an extent, you are being too hard on the Freepers. On that very thread, many of them explicity say that they will NOT vote for Bush or the GOP.

Read the same type comments in 1999 and early 2000. Believe me, when crunch time comes and the Democratic nominee has a face, even the cranky freepers can be expected to do their duty and make sure the evil wrong team doesn't get elected. Sure as sunshine.

A Republican candidate will only need to push the usual freaker buttons to get their support. A public flag humping and french-bashing will suffice.

Phillip Augustus,

You do have a point, but Bush is doing just what he said he would do in 2000. I did not vote for him the first time!

Texas Dissident,

I don't know, Bush has been going too far. If he gives all the Mexican "wetbacks" green card and/or passes new anti gun laws this may well push people too far. This is one reason why I think he will likely to be in the White House in 2005.
