It's not hard to accidently discharge a firearm. It often happens when weapons are dropped, being disassembled/cleaned or people are fooling around. I know a guy who was accidently shot with an M60 machine gun in the marines during training a few years ago.

There's also a strong possibility that at least some of these "non-combat shootings" were suicides. The military would probably want to keep those hushed up as much as possible for the sake of better PR.

Sounds to me like they are afraid to say, "Friendly-Fire," in the news! They don't want the populous to grow even more discontent about the Irak situation. It is total expected from Fox-news, the unfair and unbalanced media. Sounds like also that the military is covering up on the situation, no surprise.

The soldiers are even discontent on the situation; it is not just populous in Amerika. What happened to the boys wanting Rumsfeld's resignation (et alii)? They are being killed, not only by the people whom they came to save, but also by the people whom they let in - the foreign "terrorists." They failed their mission of proving of the weapons of mass destruction, but also capture of Saddam (not to metion Osama). Mentioning Osama - they are still fighting in Afganistan, and soldiers get wounded and die there too. Now they are going to install an islamic constitution there. They replaced one Taliban government to replace it with another. They let Afganistan continue to export (it's biggest export) drugs. And I can go on, and on.

No surprise that the "unbiased" media will play it all down.
