Dumbest Generation Yet - Mindless Hive America
From David Goldman 9-27-3
The End Is At Hand...
I was surfing between stations when I came across The Jay Leno Show. He is the cheap imitation of Johnny Carson. I remember a few 'jewels' from this hilarious fiasco:
He arranged a common knowledge 'competition' with three competitors, two men and one woman around 20 years old. They were typically-educated normal middle to upper middle class young people on their way to adulthood.
During the 'competition' ...
None of them recognised the photo of Abraham Lincoln.
None of them recognised the statue of DAVID, or knew even its name, or who created it.
None of them recognized the symbol of the Republican Party: They all drew a blank on the BIG elephant with GOP written on its body. They did even not know what GOP means.
None of them could identify what the Louvre is or where it is located.
None of them recognised the photo of the Taj Mahal.
Zurich...none of them knew in what country it is in.
They showed the timeless photo of Clark Gable kissing Maureen O'Hara in 'Gone With The Wind'. None of them recognised who 'those people' are. The woman said in disgust: "HE IS SO OLD, HE IS PROBABLY OVER FORTY!"
YES, THIS IS THE END, MISTER RENSE.
WE HAVE LOST OUR NEXT GENERATION.
THE ELDERS HAVE WON!
Note - We have, indeed, essentially lost most of the next generation. The causes are more than obvious: The government schools with brainwashing, stultifying, revisionist PC curriculums and staffed with ever-less capable teachers reformatted to create non-reading, non-thinking, nearly non-verbal morons; the devastating cradle-to-grave MIND CONTROL of commercial TV - the most withering weapon ever unleashed on human kind; the unlimited sex and reflexive violence and immorality conveyed and marketed in many/most films and 'pop culture' media; hideously ugly 'people' magazines purveying...nearly demanding...attention and obedience to an endless stream of insipid 'cool' role models and the cheapest sensationalism; the astonishing vapid, often vile, negative, self-pitying 'MUSIC' ingraining and reinforcing boundless hedonism, anger, rage self-indulgence and the taking of ever more plentiful street drugs; countless millions of broken homes and miserably failed parents; ruthless school peer pressure and brutality...strong enough to push tragically betrayed and sold-out young people to mass murder and suicide; the pharmaceutical cartel's medicating/destroying of millions of elementary and teenage children whose lives will never fully recover from their 'therapy'; a youth 'culture' dominated by image, wallowing in victimhood, committed to non-responsibility, obsessed with sex and 'friends' and 'STYLE'...and headed toward a multitude of sexually-transmitted diseases, many fatal; a national diet of the most worthless and criminally-contaminated disease-producing food in history; and much more.
America has been usurped, raped and destroyed by greed and by a group of people whose goal has been, for centuries, the subjugation and servitude of the human race. The 'next' generation will walk, mindlessly, fat, with many obese, and in poor health, through a droll, utterly predictable lifetime of the most unprecedented stupidity and self-gratification - and self-destruction - in modern history. - Jeff Rense
Thankfully, there are exceptions...survivors...if you missed this posting earlier, here is a shining example...

Er, I think the 20-year-olds were actors playing dumb 20-year-olds.....

Yes I think so too. Especially with those two dumbasses who thought "Viva Quebec" meant "die Quebec". Or that one hippie who said that Hitler's first name was Hitler, ie he didn't have a first name; "like Cher" as he put it.
Although they're actors they do represent the poor state of America's youth, as far as intelligence goes. As a 20 year old myself I see this first hand everyday! To be honest I never did have much respect for my own generation, which I have seen as nothing more than a bunch of hip-hop morons. I've always gravitated towards more older and mature people. Instead of "don't trust anybody over 30" with me it's "don't trust anybody under 30". The only under 30 people I have anything in common with are well people from Europe and/or the South, and of course people on this forum. ;)

Like as if the author did? Maureen O'Hara wasn't in 'Gone With The Wind'.
Every generation plays this "The new ones are dumber than we were" game. It's always both part true and beside the point. People in high school now are going to be living in a much different world than the one they are being prepared for, and not knowing the cast of 'Gone With The Wind' will be the least of their worries.
Youngsters should not feel at all guilty about this sort of thing. They should be blaming their elders for the mess they are already inheriting.

Reminds me of that recent article by the British newspaper who said Americans were dumb - I forget the reference. Interesting - this article by a British leftist and now a certain David Goldman.

I can picture the photo, but I wouldn't be able to tell you who the two are. It's before my time. Why should I know? I admit that my quality of education isn't something I'm proud of.
Of course, shows like the Tonight Show want to show dumb people. I could ask a 100 people a few easy questions and then play a tape of the five worst and make it look like all young people are dumb.
What's different now is the ungodly amount of money that we're paying for similiar results of the past. And, of course, what's different is that national interests are using local schools for indoctrination and social engineering.
What if I asked a bunch of old people questions about computers or pop culture? The previous generation seems perfectly willing to accept Bush's lies about Iraqi WMDs when they have more experience with political manipulation than any young person.

I don't know what this article is referring to, but Leno does (or used to do) a bit called Jay Walking where he would go out with a camera crew and ask people on the street "simple" questions, and record their stupid answers. As far as I know these were real people, and not actors (unless you think they acted stupid on purpose just to get on TV).
And why is everyone focusing on the Gone With The Wind question? What about not knowing who Abraham Lincoln is? Or Michelangelo's David? Or the Louvre? This is more than just a "generation gap" thing. This is pure ignorance.
I'm sure they all knew who Martin Luther King Jr. was, though.

Because the weenie that made up the test got the answer wrong.

Yeah, that one jumped right out at me.
Vivien Leigh, and what a babe she was.

Of course, Vivien Leigh played Scarlett O'Hara.
About fifteen years ago, I started seeing books and articles on the lines of, "how ignorant kids are today compared to us elders." One afternoon, I was in a book store and they were pushing a book called something like, "What a literate young adult should know." I opened it randomly and found a diagram of "The Hydrogen Atom." It showed an electron and a nucleus with a proton and a neutron. The trouble is, an ordinary hydrogen atom has no neutron. It is the only atom that contains no neutron. The diagram was of an isotope of Hydrogen, Deuterium, but the book presented it as ordinary Hydrogen. The tone of the book was pure sanctimony, but they hadn't done their own work, much like the writer of the above article, Mr. Goldman.
The white kids and young white adults I know today seem to me to be just about as bright and knowledgeable, at least in a relative sense, as the kids I went to high school with more than forty years ago.

I couldn't care less about Gone With Wind (though I've seen it, and could name the main cast -- without going to the IMDB -- and I'm in my 20s). It's barely a footnote in the history of Western Civilization. Michelangelo's David and the Louvre, however, are not just mere "pop culture matters;" they are culture, period. And not knowing who Abraham Lincoln is, is just plain stupid, no matter what your age. Ever seen a $5 dollar bill?
The attitude seems to be, "Like, who cares about Michelangelo and the Louvre? That's like...ya know...old people stuff. At least I know who 50 Cent is, and how to use a computer."
On the one hand, I can't really blame the young people of today for their ignorance. After all, they're just products of an Educational System that teaches them that mediocre (and I'm being generous) writers like Toni Morrison and Maya Angelou are equal to -- it not superior to -- E.A. Poe and W.B. Yeats, and that African-Americans invented many of the things for which the Evil White Man takes credit.
On the other hand, nothing is stopping them from going to the local free public library and doing a bit of self-education. But I guess that would require too much effort. It's much easier to sit in a classroom, inhaling the farts of their (most likely jewish) professors.

When Spengler spoke of the fellaheen this is precisely who he was referring to.

There you have hit upon it!
And the things you cite - renaissance art for one - an appreciation for these things come with maturity. But the carrot America holds forth to her young is the promise of perpetual adolescence....adolescence you can conceivably extend into late middle age so long as your money, and your gym membership, hold out.

Don't even worry about it AM Pat. With a response like that one, you are destined to be a whiner, and we wouldn't expect anything more of you.

I am guessing the much-reviled Birdman reads this forum.
He published the topic article but corrected the boo-boo after Walter Yannis and Enkidu spelled out the right lady's name.
