The Atlantic Monthly asks: "Why Is Russia So Homophobic?"

The reason Duma passes the law is to polarize society and portray itself as a defender of morals (or actually like a "moujik" in prison terms - a collective "person" with "correct" ideas and beliefs in accordance with prison linguo) - in view of urban protests in Moscow and other centers against the ruling Russian elites, the easiest way to win back some influence is by rallying the population against a universal enemy. Homosexuals are so widely despised that its an easy cop-out - scapegoat a small fraction of your population to win some brownie points with the rest and potentially pit the urban middle class vs. the proles.

It is not surprising that the new trend of anti-homosexual law making comes right on the heels of political protests.

I'm sorry, but you are insane if you really believe that. But most likely you just regurgitate the talking points without doing much thinking.

You've just made this up. While Russia has had huge growth of AIDS patents since collapse of USSR, most of it was due to drug addiction and, of course, noone's "haunted" by visions of any "plague".

Most people in Russia still don't give a shit about AIDS, as they never did. They hate fags instinctively, on a cultural level as a way to assert their manliness (as you can see women are nonexistent among protesters) in a tribe-like behaviour: attacking the weak and the deviant is a way to demonstrate group loyalty.

Primitive pack behaviour.

It's worth noting that the measure banning homosexual propaganda passed the Duma unanimously, 436-0. In light of that I don't think one can easily sustain the claim that this law represents some crude appeal to muzhik mentality with the potential to pit the major socioeconomic classes against one another. What non-sodomite bloc is fervently on the side of upholding the legality of homosexual propaganda? If this law does not represent the collective will of the peoples of the Russian federation, then what law does?

All parties are controlled by Kremlin and those that aren't weren't even allowed to be registered. Small wonder.

What on Earth are you talking about. What "homosexual propaganda"? The only homosexual propaganda I see is when these Duma faggots pat each other on the back for a job well done "defending our morals", while sniffing coke in between the sessions.

Is that supposed to be a serious question?

Are there any substantial unregistered parties that would have voted against the new law?

This homosexual propaganda: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moscow_Pride

Notice how often the article cites the participation of European and North American interlopers in these constant public demonstrations of deviance. The law was passed as much to block foreign shit-globalist interference as it was to keep domestic weirdos in check.

Russian society may have its problems due to a century of war and communist rule, but it is absolutely correct not to tolerate these sorts of demented mockeries and provocations.

There is one other reason to crack down on homosexual militants other than those already suggested. Russian Slavs face a demographic threat to their dominance both within (i.e. Muslims) and without (i.e. China) the Federation. The more Ivan s and Olga s getting birthed and raised in proper families, the better.

Here's another story, also breaking just today. I have to admit, for all the problems that it faces, Russia is taking bold strides in a direction starkly different from that of the West. I don't know why this is happening. It almost seems as if hostile, conniving shit-Jews weren't able to control the media to poison ordinary Russian minds or something.
