All good points by the Usual Suspects: CE and Trolland.

"The feel-good" attitude is really terrifying.

But I like the general idea of planting a seed of philosophy into troubled minds - the thing is, it should not be a seed of pacification, a sort of a lullaby to put the baby back to comfortable sleep; it should be the seed of revolt, the seed of intellectual openness, of questioning trends, authority, set goals. The seed, that should help get rid of intellectual lazyness and drowsy existence in semisleep-sort-of-life.

This isn't really surprising, philosophy is just undergoing the same process that has already transformed religion, the process of therapeutization...just as religion has become more pastoral, more anodyne and less concerned with thou shalts and shalt nots, philosophy has ceased to become the serious life and is now just a source of existential comfort for worthless striver college students, 'nihilism with a happy face'.

Health science is really bad for this. Climate science is even worse. Neoclassical empiricist economics is the worst.
