The one time I ever visited Rome I made a nerd quest out to Cinecitta, which is kind of in the middle of nowhere, so I could stand by the gate and pretend to have a moment.

It's sort of around a strip mall kind of area. I ended up celebrating my brush with cinema history and Fellini by having the worst spaghetti ever made by an old dude who scowled at me the whole time.

Ever see the scene of the young man who moves to Rome where he eats a huge spaghetti dinner from 'Roma'?

What I've noticed from my readings of Fellini written by others is that he continuously would downplay himself and engage in such light reductionisms. I'm not sure whether he didn't want to be intellectualized or his work overthought, but he certainly wouldn't engage in such behaviour himself.

Yes, one of my favorites - Fellini really coloured my view of Rome when I was there.

I think he had a certain impishness to him - it was probably irresistible to him.
