I've noticed the forum seems to lack a comprehensive set of posting guidelines. It would be a good idea for the Staff to implement a set of guidelines with regard to what is permissible here.

Some suggestions for posting guidelines:

1) Don't degrade the forum via silly posts or the excessive use of emoticons ('smilies').

2) No childish behavior and intentionally posting of off-topic comments in any specific thread.

3) Everyone should think before they post! Posts should be useful and have substance.

Absolutely not. If the Staff added such a feature it would it would seed bad blood among members and cause all kinds of unnecessary drama.

That's the same reason we don't have posting guidelines.

Nic, Donkey, and I do what we please here and we don't want anyone trying to play lawyer here by pointing at "posting guidelines". Our rule and moderation is arbitrary.

Is it possible to get a toolbar on the shoutbox for bold/italics/quote etc.?

Shoutbox toolbar will come with the new shoutbox to be installed upon the first stable release of the software. They have 3 candidate releases, so the first Gold should be out soon.
