I really enjoy the Butthole Surfers, but this is from the time they started to become pretty bad.

There's definitely a post-punk influence in their earlier work which makes an interesting contrast with the psychedelia.

I didn't mind Pepper at all, but it wasn't particularly distinctive. niccolo and donkey , you can definitely hear the Beck in it, or wherever Beck got his schtick from at that point. Some Os Mutantes, maybe?

I've also enjoyed reading about the Butthole Surfers, but there are only a few songs that do it for me. The perennial 17-year-old in me will always love The Shah Sleeps in Lee Harvey Oswald's Grave.

I really liked 'Pepper' and the rest of Electriclarryland when I was a kid. Still enjoy that album, though maybe out of nostalgia.
